Once again I was faced with a dull day to take photos, pretty typical of Ireland this time of year. Lyndsey was looking for some natural photos of her 1 year old daughter, Amelia. The morning of the day Lyndsey and I settled on meeting at Marlfield House in Gorey. We figured we might grab a few photos indoors since the rain was becoming persistent, but also may be able to take a few in it’s beautiful gardens if there was a break in weather.
Shooting in low light is always a challenge, but can also create a magical mood. I try and find any pockets of light to shoot in. My favourite photo of this session is the one of Amelia sitting under the window and looking out. Lyndsey has an instinctive photographic eye herself and was so wonderful at directing her daughter to move in directions that were perfect for me, she was the one who directed Amelia‘s gaze to the window. We did make our way outside despite the rain, and I’m so glad we did. Amelia was so gorgeous in her rainbow red leggings and such a star in the rain. Side note, I need to buy a pretty umbrella for shoots like this in the future.
We finished our session off with a coffee and chat in The Duck restaurant. Again I leave a shoot feeling like I’ve gained a friend.
